NIWA Ocean Survey 20/20 acoustic bathymetry and seabed-characterisation transects gathered in August 2006.
During the August 2006 Ocean Survey 20/20 voyage, NIWA's Tangaroa collected multibeam acoustic transects across Chatham Rise and Challenger Plateau. These observations provided bathymetric and seabed-composition evidence that scientists combined with chlorophyll measurements and tidal-current models.
The mapped transects informed sampling-site selection for April–June 2007 biological voyages. The underlying geophysical observations and the later environmental classifications are different products; the 2008 NIWA article reproduces maps of survey coverage and station locations but does not state that every original acoustic data file is downloadable from that article.
