Early digital orthophotos aligned to successive national topographic map-sheet grids.
LINZ records that commissioned New Zealand orthophotos from 1994 to 2003 followed NZMS260 sheet extents; acquisitions from 2003 to 2006 followed Topo50 sheet extents. These images are an example of aerial survey products moving into the GIS production and distribution system.
Their sheet layout ties the datasets to successive eras of topographic mapping. This collection is separate from the wider Crown Aerial Film Library and from later regional aerial-photo programmes.
