LINZ produces georeferenced GeoTIFF images from official nautical chart products and supplies indexes showing the geographic extent of each chart. The digital map images allow chart content to be displayed alongside other geographic information.

A chart image is a cartographic product derived from hydrographic surveys and chart compilation. The LINZ Data Service copies are not an authoritative navigation replacement; their updates and currency differ from the official notices and charts used by mariners.
