Maritime NZ’s Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) is the national search and rescue organisation. It coordinates national-level operations, maritime and aviation missions across New Zealand’s search and rescue region, and land cases initiated by satellite distress alerts. It also advises emergency partners around the clock. Location information supports this work: LINZ and LEARNZ’s 2020 Get Outdoors field trip used maps, GIS, GPS and emergency-beacon locations to explain search and rescue, with RCCNZ experts alongside mapping and outdoor-safety specialists.
