In 2017, Emir Hartato completed Master of Geographic Information Science research at University of Canterbury titled “Volunteered geographic information (VGI) for disaster management : a case study for floods in Jakarta”. The Canterbury research examined volunteered geographic information for Jakarta flood response. Jakarta was its case-study area, not a claim of a New Zealand flood event.
