In 2007, Megan Leigh Fowler completed Master of Engineering in Transportation research at University of Canterbury titled “The Effect of Road Network Bendiness on Traffic Crash Occurrence in New Zealand”. The study used GIS-derived road-curvature measurements around fatal-crash and comparison sites, then tested associations with traffic crashes and road design consistency.
