Researcher whose 2021 master's work concerned Māori land and wellbeing.

In 2021, Rowan Thom completed Master of Commerce research at Victoria University of Wellington titled “Land Loss, Historic Trauma and the Intergenerational Transmission of Wellbeing: The Experience of Iwi in Aotearoa New Zealand”. Thom examined relationships between historical Māori land loss and variation in contemporary iwi wellbeing using historical geographic and quantitative evidence. The research was an economics and public-policy study, rather than a software development project.
