Sophie Curtis-Ham and Darren Walton’s 2017 Applied Geography paper compared two approaches at Census Area Unit level: the Priority Locations Index and the New Zealand Crime Harm Index. Both used geography to guide attention, but they measured different things. Treating them as alternative hot-spot maps would lose the point of the comparison.
