In 2013, William Gorrie Tate completed Master of Philosophy Geographic Information Systems research at Massey University titled “The effect of a rise in mean sea level on the New Plymouth coastline: a GIS investigation”. The Massey research investigated possible effects of higher mean sea levels along the New Plymouth coastline through geographic analysis.
