Regional geological mapping issued with reusable Esri coverage and shapefile data alongside configured GIS viewer projects.
The National Library catalogues QMAP vector data CD-ROMs issued during 2006–2014 with the regional 1:250,000 geological map series. The discs provided Esri coverages and shapefiles and ArcMap, ArcView 3 and ArcReader project files already prepared for viewing and analysis. They were a means of distributing geographic features to GIS users, distinct from the companion map-image CD-ROMs.
The discs' introductory documentation estimated spatial accuracy no better than about ±100 metres for accurately located features. This was a published interpretation at regional map scale, suitable for geological use with that limitation. The individual map dates vary; the 2008 Christchurch QMAP sheet provides an example of the map product from the same programme.
