The national topographic road-line layer maintained for Topo50 mapping.
Roads that once appeared chiefly as symbols on compiled topographic sheets are maintained as line features in LINZ's Topo50 database. The layer records formed all-weather routes at the mapping scale and supports cartography and GIS applications.
Topographic road centrelines have a different purpose and lineage from road-addressing data and legal road parcels. Those three datasets should not be merged merely because their lines often occupy the same part of a map.
