ProjectSouth Island orthophoto project Terralink 2004 aerial imagery regional orthophoto acquisition

The named participating councils were Waimakariri, Ashburton, Timaru, Waimate, Waitaki and Mackenzie District Councils, together with Environment Canterbury. The stated uses included local-government GIS, consent processing, land-use work, civil defence and asset management. A shared imagery acquisition gave several authorities a common regional base while leaving their internal GIS arrangements distinct.

The announcement identifies participating authorities and their intended uses of the imagery. It gives no details of each council’s internal software or GIS practitioners.
